If this sounds familiar
Nanoplasty smooths your hair from the inside out — your curls and natural movement stay intact. Molecules small enough to penetrate the hair shaft calm the cuticle, and the frizz drops without coating the outside or melting bonds.
Unlike Brazilian and older keratin treatments, nanoplasty uses no formaldehyde. Your hair just behaves the way you want it to.

Nanoplasty is a new hair technology, classified as the "New Keratin Generation System". Beyond only straightening the hair or taming the curls, nanoplasty also heals the hair from the inside out.
All the formulations of our nanoplasty systems contain several organic acids, amino acids, oils, butters, waxes, silicones, and hydrolysed vegetable proteins — designed to treat the hair in a balanced way and provide the nutrients needed for the recovery of hair health and shine.
Most smoothing treatments either coat the outside of your hair — which washes out fast — or chemically break down the bonds and re-form them straight, which lasts but does damage. Nanoplasty does neither. It works inside the hair shaft, so the bonds that give your hair its shape stay intact. Only the roughness and frizz are addressed.
Brazilian and older keratin treatments use formaldehyde — or formaldehyde-releasing agents — to lock smoothness in. Effective, but harsh on the hair and on the lungs of whoever's applying it. They also tend to over-straighten, leaving curly and wavy hair flat and lifeless.
Nanoplasty uses a different chemistry. No formaldehyde. No bond-melting. It works with your hair's natural structure rather than dissolving it — softer, smoother hair that still moves the way it's meant to.
One session typically holds 3–6 months — exact duration depends on hair type, wash frequency, and aftercare. Coarser, curlier hair often benefits from a second session 4–6 weeks later to extend the result. Fine hair usually only needs one.
You'll see the smoothing immediately after the heat-seal step. The treatment continues to settle for 48–72 hours — during that window we ask you not to wash or tie your hair back. After that, normal routine, with hair that's noticeably easier to live with.
Yes — and it's one of the main reasons we chose nanoplasty. It's gentle enough for hair that's been through colour or bleach. If there's any uncertainty, we run a strand test on the day. We won't run the treatment on hair that isn't structurally ready for it.

Wash your hair the night before or the morning of the appointment — two shampoo applications, no conditioner, no serums.
Set aside 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on your hair length and density. We work the nanoplasty through your hair, rinse, heat-seal the smoothing in, then finish with a nourishing mask and a fresh blowout.
48–72 hours of no washing or tying back is recommended.
A three-month check-in to see how the treatment is wearing. Book the next session whenever you want to extend the result.
About
I started Lia Hanson Hair as a wedding stylist. After years of doing bridal hair, I kept seeing the same conversation — brides who'd spent years managing their hair, terrified that Melbourne humidity on their wedding day would undo every styling decision we'd made together.
Gentle enough for fine and coloured hair, but actually transformative — not just a coating that washes out. So I added it to the salon, and now I treat clients 3 months before their wedding so we have options on the day. It also works beautifully for women who just want to stop spending an hour every morning with the straightener.
The studio is in Windsor, Melbourne. By appointment.
What clients say
"Had my nanoplasty done with Lia — she was amazing and the result was better than I could hope for. My hair is shinier, healthier and more importantly, it is always ready to go! 🥰"
"Lia's Nanoplasty treatment is incredible. It now takes me ~10 mins to have luscious voluminous waves after a shower, a process that usually took 1.5–2 hrs+. Wish I'd done this treatment earlier — highly recommend for thick curly hair!"
"Lia's nanoplasty treatment was a game-changer. No overpowering smell, meticulous attention to detail, and her warmth and expertise shone through. Now every morning I wake up to beautifully straight yet naturally bouncy hair that requires no styling. If you're looking for a treatment that tames frizz without losing that natural bounce — highly recommend."
"I'm absolutely thrilled with the results. My hair is so much smoother, shinier, and easier to manage. It feels healthier and looks amazing. The whole experience was fantastic — from the warm welcome to the expert care throughout. If you're thinking about nanoplasty, I can't recommend it enough."
"I got the nanoplasty treatment in December and it's still going so well 6 months later! Lia is amazing at what she does! Highly recommend getting this treatment done!"

Brazilian and most keratin treatments use formaldehyde or formaldehyde-releasing agents to lock in smoothness. Nanoplasty doesn't. It uses nano-particles that bond inside your hair shaft rather than melting your hair bonds. The result is smoother hair that still moves and behaves naturally — your curls stay curly, just less frizzy.
No. Nanoplasty is specifically designed to work alongside your hair's natural structure, not break it down. We do a strand assessment at consultation to make sure your hair is in the right condition for the treatment.
Yes. This is one of the main reasons we offer nanoplasty over older smoothing treatments — it's gentle enough for hair that's been through colour or bleach. We'd never run it on hair that wasn't ready for it; if there's any concern we'll suggest a different path.
Roughly 2 hours from start to finish, depending on hair length and density. We'll give you an exact time estimate at your consultation.
48–72 hours after the treatment. During that window we ask you not to wash, tie your hair back, or use any styling products. After that, back to normal — though we recommend sulphate-free shampoo to extend the result.
Typically 3–6 months. It depends on hair type, how often you wash, and aftercare. Curlier and coarser hair often benefits from a second session 4–6 weeks after the first to extend the result.
Yes — and many clients do. Best timing is 3 months out. That gives the treatment time to settle and gives us a chance to do a styling trial-run before the day.
We do an honest assessment at consultation. If we don't think nanoplasty is right for your hair, we'll tell you — and we won't run the treatment. The goal is hair you love, not a session booked.
